So this is a topic about the games I'm playing or just whatever pops into my head and of course other opinions are always welcome and appreciated too.

The game I just got off Steam is the Stanley Parable and it is awesome and you should check it out. It's a short little desconstruction of narratives in video games that is well worth the time put into it. The best part is all the little touches and things you can do to make the narrator irate like jumping off high places or standing around in a room chewing the scenery or in general just doing the opposite of whatever he wants you to do.

omfg I lo ve The Stanley Parable my friend and I were playing it and it was great.

I'd like to state that, for the record, I am infinitely better at that game then a dead rat >______>

Just beat the main story of Arkham Origins

Overall, 8/10 game. Doesn't exactly innovate the Arkham formula, but its definitely the most solid experience in terms of gameplay/graphics so far. Batman is definitely more raw and emotional in this game, which is cool.

Also nice to hear a non-BTAS voice cast every once in a while.

Kevin Conroy is the only batman I'll ever love. But I really like John Dimaggio Joker A LOT.

I think Troy Baker does the Joker in Origins though.

Ok So I've finally got a lot of face time with Ass Creed 4 and damn... I mean DAAAAAAAAAMN. Ok some of it doesn't exactly make sense. There is some of that Ludo Narrative Dissonance in the early game but I'm having such a great time I really don't mind it for the 1 hour I spend doing things out of order. The cities are all on the smaller end of things as well but the ocean is freaking huge. Not even sure how the hell the game expects me to go shark and whale hunting

Also hunting for treasure is damn fun. I can't wait till i figure out how to commandeer ships instead of just blasting them full of holes. The best for me thus far is right before you get the Jackdaw, jumping from ship to ship was awe inspiring and I executed it in such a flawless manner that I shocked even myself.

Oh I know, I wasn't talking about Origins. I was talking about my second favorite joker. He only did the voice in Under the Red Hood

Ok I'm done. I feel like I just need to quit gaming for the rest of the year or rather I need to quit gaming until Dark Souls 2 comes out because I HIGHLY doubt anything is going to come anywhere close to AC4. I thought until this point Tomb Raider would be on cruise control for victory but damn I was just not expecting so much polish and beauty. The best part? I'm only 1/5 of the way through. Even if the plot loses its shit and becomes a parody, as long as the gameplay remains solid then there is just no chance for any other game.

Honestly other then the horror duo of A Machine for Pigs and Outlast, I really wasn't expecting any honest to god gems. Tomb Raider took me completely by surprise as I had never played a Tomb Raider game before it. The previous 2 ended up in various shades of disappointment while AC4, TR and The Stanley Parable really brought me out of this gaming funk since Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us came out. After the incredibly craptastic start with God of War Ascension and DmC, I'm glad to report that this year actually was pretty good.

This year isn't quite over but unless Link Between Worlds can pull off Majora's Mask level of magic, I just don't see how this is going to get better. We'll see though! :)

I have played 16 new games this year. I doubt I'll be playing many more. A Link Between Worlds and that's probably it. Overall I can't complain too much. There have been some truly horrid games ala SMT4 and DmC but after looking back there were quite a few gems like Blood Dragon and The Stanley Parable that really stood out.

My Top 5 atm would probably be

1. Assassin's Creed 4
2. Tomb Raider
3. The Stanley Parable
4. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
5. Amnesia A Machine for Pigs/Pokemon X/The Last of Us (honestly can't decide)

My Bottom 5 are

5. Slender the Arrival (overall pretty cool but gets repetitive and some cheap deaths kept me from finishing)
4. Papers Please (just not my style game)
3. God of War Ascension (so boring... soooooo dull)
2. DmC (a complete travesty to the DMC franchise)
1. SMT4 (just an incredibly bad game)
